Hospital bag
From 37 weeks of pregnancy it is very useful to have a so-called 'hospital bag' ready. This is also called the flight case. It may happen that you have to go to the hospital during childbirth due to a medical indication, for example when the baby has defecated in the amniotic fluid.
It is important to put the following things in your hospital bag:
For yourself
- Clean clothes to go home after discharge. Remember that you may have lost your belly, but you still can't fit into your pre-birth clothes. Pants with a stretch band are useful.
- Something to give birth to; nightgown, long T-shirt.
- Warm socks for yourself.
- Toiletries (hairbrush/comb, shampoo and shower foam, deodorant, toothbrush and toothpaste)
- Nightwear
- Bathrobe
- Flip flops
- Elastic band for your hair
For the baby
- Clothes size 50/56, with long sleeves and long pants, preferably with feet attached.
- Hat and jacket
- Shawl
Other
- Car seat for the baby.
- 2 euro coin for the wheelchair.
- Identification.
- Insurance card.
- Your folder from the Birth Center containing your pregnancy card.
- Phone and charger.
- Camera/film camera and extra memory card/batteries.
- Think of anything you might like: magazine, headphones, music, etc.
- Set of extra clothes and toiletry bag for your partner.
