Stool after childbirth

The stool will start again after a few days. Often women dread having a bowel movement for the first time, often out of fear over the stitches. Afterwards, it's usually not that bad and it just relieves you. You can't hurt anything inside or damage the sutures by having stool. When you feel the urge, don't put it off any longer. Take your time and try it out. Try to keep your stool soft by drinking plenty of fluids and eating a diet rich in fiber.

Usually, the first stool comes on the third or fourth day after delivery. Often women like to support the perineum with a warm wet washcloth while defecating. If you still have not had a bowel movement after a week, we will prescribe a laxative.
