Hair growth

During your pregnancy, your hair may start to grow faster and become fuller. This is also true of body hair. Hormones can cause your skin and hair to react differently. Some women have oily hair and skin, while others have very dry skin. You may also experience more pimples on your face. After giving birth you will often lose the extra hair quickly.

CAUSE

Because of the better blood circulation in the skin during pregnancy due to the hormone estrogen, the hair follicles are more active. It is also possible that the growth hormones produced by the placenta also play a role. Also your nails grow faster in a pregnancy.

TIPS

  • You can shave more often
  • After the birth of your child, the excess hair will start falling out, as estrogen levels drop again. Women who are breastfeeding keep this level longer, so the hair loss will be more gradual.
