Life style advice
When you are pregnant there are a few things that you should pay extra attention to. Some advice:
- Use extra folic acid tablets (pharmacy / drugstore) until the 11th week.
- Do not eat raw meat, unwashed vegetables, soft raw milk cheeses or non-fresh fish. Also do not eat too many liver products, 1 sandwich a day with liver sausage is no problem.
- Stop smoking or using alcohol. Quitting is a lot safer than cutting back.
- Do not clean a litter box and use gloves in the garden.
- Do not take milk products, coffee, or tea with the evening meal, this lowers the iron absorption in your blood.
- Only use multi-vitamin preparations that are especially intended for pregnant women.
- Listen to your body, do not exceed the limits it indicates.
Don't be fooled by what you read on the internet, or what other people say to you! Often this "well-intentioned advice" is only partially true.
Are you in doubt? Then call your midwife. But remember: Even though you are pregnant, you remain a normal healthy woman, who can and should do almost as much as you normally do.
