Pigment
Many women become browner and tan faster during their pregnancy. Sprites and spots can also get darker. Some women develop a stripe on their abdomen from their pubic hair up past their navel.
There are also women who develop pigmentation on their face, neck or shoulder. This is called a pregnancy mask.
CAUSE
During pregnancy you get more pigment in your skin. The hormone that produces pigment increases, so you get more pigment.
TIPS
- Be careful when sunbathing
- Apply a good sunscreen with a high protection factor.
- The mask slowly fades away after the pregnancy.
