Sauna
Were you already a regular visitor before the pregnancy? Then you can also go to the sauna in the second and third trimester of your pregnancy. It is better to avoid the sauna for up to 12 weeks. It is possible that a high body temperature during that period is not good for the baby's development.
Are you not an experienced sauna goer? Then it is not recommended to go to the sauna for the first time during pregnancy. Your body is not yet used to the increase in temperature.
What should you pay attention to?
- Don't stay in the sauna for too long and don't go too hot. The heat can make you dizzy more easily during pregnancy.
- Go into the sauna with someone. If you become dizzy, there is someone to help you.
- Listen carefully to your body. As soon as you feel unwell, dizzy or short of breath, you should stop immediately. As long as you feel good, enjoy the relaxation!
- A bubble bath, hot tub or jacuzzi are often quite warm, so we would suggest not to stay in too long. For example with a 41 degree bath no more than 10 minutes or 15 minutes in a 39 degree bath. This way your body temperature remains normal.
What is not allowed?
An infrared sauna is not recommended during pregnancy. Other saunas, whirlpools, steam baths and the like are allowed. Do not go into a sauna or a bath if your water is broken or you are losing blood.
