Striae

Striae or stretch marks are purplish-red stripes on the abdomen in particular, but also on breasts, buttocks and thighs. Some women have a clear predisposition to them. Stretch marks occur when the abdomen is growing rapidly. Before the stretch marks appear, the skin may itch, tingle a little, and be red.

CAUSE

It occurs because the stretching of the skin can no longer keep up with growth. Excessive tension causes the epidermis and the subcutaneous connective tissue to tear. This results in purple-red stripes that fade after pregnancy. Unfortunately, these scars never go away completely.

TIPS

There are all kinds of ointments and creams on the market to prevent stretch marks. Research has shown that none of the creams reach the subcutaneous connective tissue. All these creams will therefore be of little help against stretch marks. Regularly rubbing your skin with a light massage can make your skin more supple and elastic. If it itches intensely, it may help to rub menthol gel into your skin. This has a cooling effect.
